Four oversize photographs from the "Automobiles: Photographs by Michael Furman" exhibition held March 17 - April 7, 2011 in RIT's SPAS Gallery. Selected photographs were donated by the photographer, an alum of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Furman's specialty is in studio lighting of classic cars. Cars represented in these photographs taken between 2004-2009 are a 1911 Hispano-Suiza, a 1947 Delahaye 135MS, a 1936 Bugatti and a 1932 Chrysler Imperial. The Michael Furman photographs contain four prints of classic automobiles from the exhibition, "Automobiles: Photographs by Michael Furman" held in the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences Gallery in March - April 2011. 1. It is unclear when the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) first admitted minority students. However, it appears as though the first African American students entered the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (renamed RIT in 1944) during the early 1900s. For instance, in 1906 Fredericka Sprague, the granddaughter of Frederick Douglass, took classes at the Institute.
